College of Southern Maryland
The College of Southern Maryland (CSM) is proud to be a valuable partner and resource to the companies, organizations, and industries that call the area home. The college plays a vital role in helping meet the demand for skilled, capable, and knowledgeable talent in a wide variety of fields and in strengthening the economic vitality of a diverse and changing region. Founded in 1958, CSM offers a high-quality, affordable education, with both academic credit programs and non-credit courses and programs in workforce development and continuing education. The WorkForce Center at CSM develops customized training solutions to fit any size employer while maximizing business potential.
Departments of Social Services (DSS)
The Departments of Social Services (DSS) in Calvert, Charles and St. Mary’s Counties work with eligible county residents to develop and promote job skills and employment preparation for a wide range of unskilled, semi-skilled and skilled job-seekers. As part of these efforts, the DSS’ are actively seeking opportunities for customers to participate in internship positions in local businesses. Internships may be paid (by DSS) or unpaid and the DSS’ will provide ongoing coaching and support to the interns.

The Division of Workforce Development and Adult Learning (DWDAL) coordinates Maryland’s workforce programs ensuring that businesses have skilled employees needed to be competitive in today’s global, state, and local economies. Whether the economy is weak or strong, the Division of Workforce Development & Adult Learning offers no-cost, solutions-based services across the business cycle.
St. Mary’s County Department of Economic Development
St Mary’s County’s Department of Economic Development is tasked with growing the economy in St. Mary’s County. We do this through business recruitment and retention efforts, assisting start-up companies, creating an environment and ecosystem of innovation, and focusing on target industries that are established and can grow in St. Mary’s County. We have a small talented staff of professionals who aggressively approach the tasks and initiatives needed to make progress in creating better opportunities for our residents and businesses.
The Tri-County Council for Southern Maryland
The Tri-County Council for SOMD & SOMD JobSource provides access to training grants, recruitment support, and skilled local talent to regional businesses. Talent includes adult, summer and youth interns.
