The Mobile Career Center (MCC) is part of the enhanced service delivery system of the Southern Maryland JobSource. In collaboration with community agencies, the Mobile Career Center is used for the delivery of information and resources related to employment and skills development. The MCC assists approximately 1,600 – 1,700 jobseekers per year. You will see Hans Welch (Mobile Career Center Coordinator) and the MCC at various community events such as Job Fairs and other special events like Juneteenth, Community Resources Days, and all around the tri-county area. He also has regular stops out in the community targeting youth, individuals with disabilities, returning citizens, and others in rural communities. Some of the common monthly stops for the MCC include: All the Public Libraries in Calvert, Charles and St. Mary’s Counties, Outlook Recovery, Walden Sierra, St. Mary’s Adult Detention Center, Charles County Detention Center, and DORS-Waldorf.
The 28’ MCC allows JobSource to offer a full array of career services for job seekers and businesses on-the-go. It features 7 computer workstations, HP Color printer, 42″ Samsung monitor, Verizon high speed internet access, microphone enabled, and even free Wi-Fi connectivity. It is a self-contained vehicle equipped with telecommunications equipment capable of being deployed inside or outside of the vehicle. The MCC is ADA-accessible with a working wheelchair ramp (800 lb. capacity) providing access for individuals with limited mobility. It could also serve as a resource to our area county governments in event of emergencies.
If you see Hans and the MCC out in town, please don’t hesitate to drop in and say hello. Hans is happy to provide you with information and resources related to your quest for meaningful employment.
